Milk Can Redo

So again I forgot to take a before picture of my two awesome milk cans. But they were much uglier. I got them off of craigslist for $30 which is a steal. They were a dark green covered with this tan texture paint that was peeling off and now they look awesome. I can't wait to get them back to Moscow by my front door! All I did was:
1. Wash them really well
2. Spray paint them blue
3. Dilute brown paint with thinner and brush it on. Then wipe off most of it with a wet towel to get the antiqued look.

  1. Great idea.
Does the top lid come off so you could put some flowers in the top?
    Or sticks with berries?
    I love it.
    I think it looks fantastic.

  2. I haven't been able to get the lids off, so Doug will have to work on that for me. I want to put flowers in the summer and cat-tails and stuff in the fall. Thanks Melissa! I love them too!

  3. Love the cans--that aqua color is perfect too; I can see some pretty potted plants gathered around the base of each one!

  7. I am so glad I saw your milk can at Sundae Scoop! When we bought our house the previous owners left rusty old wrought iron furniture AND an old milk can under our deck. I think they forgot about them but I have already redone 4 of the chairs and a table. I love the milk can but didn't know what to do with it- bookmarking this and adding the milk can to my list! Thanks for sharing - love what you did!
